Every brand has an origin story. Ours starts with a van, a 3D printer, and a community of 13,000 people who share the same obsession.
It Started with a Van
Like most great ideas, FunkyCampy was born from passion, not a business plan. We’ve been part of the VW T2 community for years — attending meets, swapping stories, and spending weekends elbow-deep in engine bays. The T2 isn’t just a vehicle to us. It’s a way of life.
The Lightbulb Moment
One day, while staring at a bare wall in the workshop, it hit us: why isn’t there any really good VW wall art? Sure, there are posters and tin signs. But nothing with depth. Nothing that captures the T2 silhouette the way it deserves.
So we fired up the 3D printer.
18 Hours Later
The first prototype took 18 hours to print. 780 grams of premium PLA, layer by layer, line by line. When we pulled it off the print bed and held it up to the light… we knew.
We shared it with our community. The response was immediate: “Take my money.”
Built by the Community
FunkyCampy isn’t a faceless brand. We’re van people making things for van people. Every design choice — from the line thickness to the mounting system — was refined based on feedback from our 13,000+ strong community.
When you buy a FunkyCampy piece, you’re not just getting wall art. You’re joining a family of people who believe the best things in life have four wheels and a pop-top roof.
What’s Next
We’re just getting started. New designs, new models, new ways to celebrate the vehicles we love. Stay tuned — and if you have an idea for the next piece, tell us. This brand belongs to the community.
